January 31, 2025

New year, new opportunities! We had a chat with Erling Oftedal, partner at NECON, to hear about his highlights from 2024, what he looks forward to in the coming year, and if he has any advice for engineers and consultants.

1. What was the biggest highlight for you and NECON in 2024?

– Bringing Daniel Wammen Langøen on board as a partner at NECON. He has been an incredible asset to us – highly skilled, engaged, and aligned with the right values.

2. What was your biggest learning from the past year?

– How important collaboration and networking still are. 2024 reminded us once again how crucial it is to balance new technology with strong human relationships. AI can certainly increase efficiency, but having close and honest dialogues with employees, candidates, clients, partners, and colleagues will always be key. Tools will help us more and more, but we should never underestimate the importance of meeting and talking face to face.

3. What are you most looking forward to in 2025?

– Helping Leni establish herself in her new role as Key Account Manager! She brings unique IT expertise that I believe will benefit both NECON and our clients greatly in the future. I’m really looking forward to seeing what our team can achieve together.

4. Do you have any advice for engineers and consultants who want to succeed in 2025?

– If you have a good job, don’t switch just for the sake of it – be patient and wait for the right opportunity. At the same time, if you believe the perfect role comes along, don’t be afraid to take the leap. Think long-term and make choices that will benefit you in the future.

5. What motivates you most as a partner at NECON?

– When we succeed in connecting the right candidate with the right client. It’s crucial for us to ensure that our employees get the support they need from the start, whether they are senior or junior. We also follow up to see that they are thriving and growing in their environments. When we see that happening, we know we’ve done our job right.

A big thank you to Erling for the conversation – we’re looking forward to an exciting 2025!
